21:45: David James believes Arsenal must bring in a new coach, rather than spend mega money on summer transfers.

He believes Arsene Wenger's coaching methods are dated and a new face could get the best out of the Gunners squad.

"When you've got someone else going in to do the coaching, then you're going to get the best out of four, five, six, seven players," he said on Arsenal Fan TV.

"If Arsenal get seven players playing at a better level, they're challenging for titles. That's just simple, that's the way I look at it.

"It's about improving the players you've already got to start with, not having to go out and spend £30-40million on someone else."

20:45: Tony Adams doesn't believe the current Arsenal squad is good enough to win the Premier League anytime soon.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger yesterday signed a new two-year contract at the club but Adams doesn't think his old boss should have extended his stay.

"I believe that this squad is not going to win the league in the next two years and it could possibly all crumble around him and I think that would be very sad," he said on Sky Sports.

"From one human being to another human being, I hope it doesn't."

19.45: Manchester United are ready to make a £50m move for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports.

The Mirror claim the forward is on Arsenal’s radar but United have now joiend the race.

The Red Devils have a stronger chance of signing him too with the 26-year-old keen to play Champions League football.

"[The team I will join] will have to be in the Champions League and play good football,” said Lacazette last month.

“Passing the ball, not just hitting it from box to box. Not kick and rush. That would not work for me.”

17.05: Arsenal remain in the race for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk, according to the Daily Mail.

Saints are holding out for at leat £50m though and the Gunners face competition from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Van Dijk only signed a six year-contract last summer.

15.50: Arsenal legend David Seaman has revealed he nearly joined Manchester United instead of the Gunners back in 1990.

"I was nearly a Man Utd player," the former goalkeeper said on talkSPORT.

"I was very close. I spoke to Man Utd and Arsenal on the same day and Arsenal made a bid for me.

"I had the choice but I chose wisely. No (regrets), not at all."

15.45: Arsenal look set to keep hold of defender Hector Bellerin this summer, despite interest from his former club Barcelona.

Spanish outlet Marca claim Arsene Wenger's new two-year contract will see Bellerin remain at the Emirates as the Gunners manager has been a key figure in his development.

13:35: Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil want to know Arsenal’s transfer plans before committing their futures to the club.

The attacking duo are entering the final 12 months of their current contracts and have yet to put pen to paper on new deals at the Emirates.

The Evening Standard claim Sanchez was unhappy with Arsenal’s business in the 2015, when Petr Cech was their only signing, and is seeking assurances over their recruitment strategy.

It’s also believed that both Sanchez and Ozil recently sat down with Arsene Wenger, and will wait to see the Frenchman’s summer dealings.

12:25: Arsenal and Chelsea are locked in a battle to sign Lyon star Corentin Tolisso.

Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the £50m-rated midfielder and was reportedly in the driving seat to secure his signature.

However, French publication L’Equipe claim Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas was in London to discuss a possible deal for Bertrand Traore, which the Blues used as an opportunity to talk about Tolisso.
